Legal eco driving techniques?
What are some good techniques that don't involve breaking the law by doing stuff such as speeding?
|
Route planning,
no left turns. www.sixt.com/magazine/tips/top-traffic-apps/ Time the lights, Surf the Green Wave. Aerodynamic mods. Drive a 40-50 year old car restored with low-VOC paints. Or a bare-metal Land Rover converted to electro-magnetic drive. edit: duckduckgo.com/?q=imagreendriver I'm not sure what's up with Connected Signals. They have a presence on sites like Lindedin and Facebook but no presence in the WWW at large. |
Gas prices are highway robbery and taxation is theft.
Do what ever you want juat don't hurt anyone else. Aerodynamic mods are your best bet for highway driving besides driving slower. But even just slowing down can be dangerous in some places. |

That would be case specific. What you got?
Generally anything underneath avoids scrutiny. Some common modifications like stancing are beneficial. Subtle modifications add up. |
Air dam and partial grille block come to mind.
There is the underbelly tray but you get most of that benefit with an air dam. |
Yeah, about the only time illegal speeding equates to eco driving is when the engine is off, the transmission is in neutral, and the car is pulled downhill by gravity.
It works, but it's not advisable, IMHO. |
I did that once, road tripping to Bonneville. Passed a pickup truck pulling a trailer [that was] in the right lane.
Rarely happens though, more common is a quick burst of over-velocity to synchronise with traffic lights after a turn downtown. |
Everyone should know how to EOC their car.
It should be part the driving test. A few times a year every ear I hear or see a story of "the car stalled, went out of control and crashed". No the car didn't go out of control, thr person didn't know how to control the vehicle with out power assistance the car will still stop answer steer it just takes a lot more force to do it with manual power. |
I haven't watched these videos in a while, but I remember being impressed by them.

Some will say that a car with side skirts, kammback, or boattail looks better than stock. |
Given equal fit and finish, of course.
You can do a lot with just the stance. https://i.imgur.com/1k1yDOh.jpg imgur.com/1k1yDOh |
What is the speed difference in pulse and glide? Is it 5 mph?
Also consider avoiding a roof rack unless you are carrying things inside a canoe. I installed an air dam on a 1970 Ford Falcon and greatly improved stability. |
Throw one of these on the back of your car and pulse and glide up to 25mph and then pull over once in a while so as to not impede traffic.
https://i5.walmartimages.com/asr/25a...02104b1c6.jpeg Actually, a lot of highways and streets do not have a lower speed limit. You can go as slow as you want as long as you are not impeding traffic. Of course it may be difficult to pull off hypermiler techniques on a busy street and not be considered impeding traffic. The type of vehicle will also change the rules. E-bike anyone?? |
