I doubt it would be a noticeable amount.

Quezacotl 07-05-2013 05:05 AM

You would need some gauge to notice that, or several tanks of testing.
Why don't you just repair those? :)

There is not a straight panel on the whole car. Every dent has a good story behind it.

Whenever I hit the junkyard up I look for a decent fender in the same color, but the only way accords end up there is totaled. I haven't had much luck. I've owned the car for 9 years, I bought it in high school for $270. It had 194,000 then, now it has 373,000 miles. It just runs and runs and runs.

You never know, you might find a totalled from the rear or side to get what you need. I wouldn't think the damage would show a calculable difference, but I am no expert.

Could be time to turn it into an Art Car.

You could smack the panels back out, so to avoid large dents.
I doubt it'd affect MPG a noticeable amount tho..

brucepick 07-06-2013 08:35 PM

I doubt the dents affect mpg significantly.
I suspect any one good mod project would compensate for any loss.

I've really enjoyed getting cars for low prices and getting much use from them. A cheap, banged up car can get you where you need to go just as well as one that costs $300 a month plus maintenance plus higher insurance costs!

As for junkyard parts -
IF you are willing to spend the money on some panels, it might be worth it to ask a few yards about parts. One yard here strips many parts off older cars before dropping them out in the yard for picking over. If you need the parts they strip, ya gotta ask for them and they pull them off the shelf for $$$.

I wouldn't touch it or it will fall apart. My Ranger has dents all over it. It sits out in the weather and I have this terrible urge to fix it up and paint it, then I think about the half yard of gravel that they dumped into the bed and the pieces that missed and would have trashed a nice paint job and I come back to my senses. Besides it costs nothing to procrastinate

man, those accords are the most bullet proof cars out there in my opinion. you will be fine though. i dont think you would ever notice a difference.

Tell me about it. So much on this car is original and works, engine, A/C, auto trans, P/S, all the windows. I did rebuild the Alternator a couple years ago. Probably the best car I'll ever own. The first 5 years I owned it I beat it to death with no ill affects. I remember I was getting 21 mpg driving no traffic highway commuting to college.
