little engine heater..self sustain.
I have a unique idea, and want to go ahead with it..but am wondering about the product:
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...ermagnetic.jpg it is only a 200w, but I only have a tiny oil pan..and want it to self sustain with a 450w invertor. A bonus for the idea is the pan is surrounded by a skid plate, no wind ever. http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...l_under002.jpg here is what underneath is. the coolant system holds just over a gallon, and the other heater designs for coolant are huge. Oil over rules water anyway, once any thermal is gained. The car takes .25 quart more oil than antifreeze, at 4.5 quarts. I just need a heads up on the little heater in photo, stick it to the side of a pan, and hard wire it to an invertor inside the car. I have the engine burning hotter to an ignition upgrade, and cleaning, but it still needs a little bit more around zero degrees and colder. |
Think I have one of those and can tell you that that isn't enough heat to warm an engine overnite unless maybe it is in a garage and covered with a blanket. As far as running it while driving...doesn't make much sense to me.

Are you running a lifted EA81? I don't remember the skid plate being that steep.
On topic: I dont think thats enough power. I had an oil pan heater that was 250 watts and it didnt do crap. |
