Lo Res Car Project

Marcello Gandini with Bertone design studio penned the most famous teenage boys' wall poster (Farrah Fawcett of course was #1) of all time. The Lamborghini Countach was designed using angular and flat trapezoidal panels. The pure styling made it the icon for future designers for its aggressive and dramatic visual impression. A Dutch footwear brand, United Nude (famous for their minimal faceted product designs) sponsored a styling and marketing project, Lo-Res Car design project. They scanned all of the 3D points of the the original Countach and 'abstracts' Lamborghini's design by reducing the resolution of the shape into its most basic form. Their Los Res two-seater vehicle features a matte black dark tinted polycarbonate body, which surrounds the driver & passenger "like a transparent capsule". The car has no doors, but its entire body top hinges up from the back to allow access.

I'm all for minimalist design, but they seem to have taken it just a bit too far to be practical. Headlights, taillights, windows that you can a) see out of, and b) open for ventilation are not really options.

Too small to see the progression, but it's bogus. What a low-poly Countach might look like
