Looking for a 12v A/C or low watt 110V unit
 

Hey all,

I am looking for a 12v or low watt 110v Air Conditioning unit for car passenger compartment use. If 110v it has to be below 150 watts.
Any idea's?

check out these units from swampy, have one on my boat and it works fine. it will not cool down the car interior but it will cool you down if you direct the cold air flow at yourself, AKA from the passenger seat.

Thanks for the suggestion but I am looking for an a/c unit not a swamp cooler. The swamp cooler would raise the ambient humidity in the car too high causing musty smells or worse, mold and mildew.
However, this idea might be feasable in arid areas like AZ, NM and NV.

What do you guys think about something like this? According to an online BTU calculator the Ford Escape needs about 3000 BTU for comfort. This unit is 4400 BTU so I figure its a nice safety margin. Do you guys think something like this would be better than running the ICE driven A/C?
