Looking for source for pizza pans/aero wheel discs
Hi! I haven't posted since January - oops. Then I read of a source for pizzapan wheels/smooth wheel covers/racing disks (what are they called now?!). I'd llike to install them on my TDI Golf to increase the car's mpg. That source also gave instructions which I downloaded, but that computer died. Can anyone help?
Thanks! Kristina |

I've heard a few guys say they just used Gorilla Glue to glue them to existing hubcaps. Not reversible, but works well and cheap!
I'm going to glue on coroplast discs, as I'm cheap and I have fallen in love with coroplast. |
Thanks - I'm going to order some for my TDI, and will post a pic. Been looking for different wheels from the stock wheels, but hadn't found anything I liked. I like the look of the pizza pan wheels much better anyway!

I've been thinking along the same kinds of lines but my truck has 17" aluminum wheels. The only Mooneyes option is the screw-on which isn't something I want to do to the only set of wheels I have (not to mention having to break the bead and reseat the tire), but it would solve the problem of losing them on bumps or having them blown off by air exiting your engine compartment.
Anybody found a good way to clean up aero on a 17" aluminum wheel? I can't go smaller due to brake clearance and if I invest in another set of wheels I want to go lighter (than my existing cast alloy 17x9) and I doubt the full-size spare steel rim would save any unsprung/rotating weight. |
i noticed the other day a trailer with a stock car going to the stock car races (dirt track racing) and the race car on the trailer had smooth flat hub caps, not domed like the moon disk caps, but I would't find any when i looked in catalogs.

My boss's son is into Dirt Track Racing here locally and has smoothies on his rear wheels when he races. Also the new body kit for the car is more aerodynamic in the front.
Here is a pic of the car................... http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i3...Picture004.gif http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i3...Picture012.gif |
Not sure if you have steel rims (w/hubcaps) or alloy rims or what size for that matter. But these are the hubcaps I have on my SC1:
cripedistributing.com : 14" Stainless Hubcaps 81130-41 (4 pieces) [81130.41] - $18.00 I think they were about $35 shipped. |
