Lose weight, save fuel.
I was listening to a thing on the radio, today, and they were quoting Ford as saying that knocking 50 Kg of the weight of a loaded car can improve fuel consumption by 2%. I have already lost that by dieting, with another 15 Kg to go. Those numbers may just give me the incentive to keep going.
Anyone else thought of losing the lard to get better mpg? |
im 65 kg, so theres not a lot to lose :D
|
That only applies if you're a gas/brake driver.
For a hypermiler, it's zero: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...tml#post538484 The reason to save weight is performance, not economy. |
I am 99 kg at the moment. I could lose about 25 kg i guess.
BUt i am very doubtfull that i will get a %0.5-1 gain. BUt still i should start shedding some fat :) |
Back in the 80's there was a TV series on UK TV (Driving Ambition), where a woman decides she wants to do a bit of saloon car racing. She enlists the aid of a local mechanic and retired race driver to help her. After some persuasion he agrees, but promptly tells her to lose 30 lbs as "there is no point in me drilling holes everywhere to lose weight when you bring extra with you".
