low-cooling drag Porsche 911 Carrera
Some 'BEV' considerations of the Porsche:
1) it's a 'small' car 2) it's a 4-passenger car 3) it's greenhouse is small in comparison to Taycan/ Model S 4) it's low power compared to Taycan / Model S 5) it has a 553.9-kWh-e 'pack' 6) it consumes an approximate average 1,890 Wh /mile 7) it has an average range of about 51.2-miles with the Taycan's 93.4 kWh battery 8) approximately 33.333% of it's heat flux disappears by magic 9) one condition of it's ,low-drag cooling system is it's 'improved' radiator ( as an example to the significance of this, switching from aluminum, to copper, would effect a 67.8% improvement in heat transfer, with associated downsizing, 80.2% for silver ). 10) switching from propylene glycol, to ethylene glycol would alter the coolant boiling point from, 369-F, to 387-F. 11) allowing a 'higher operating coolant temperature' would allow for a downsized cooling system, and drag. 12) increasing allowable cooling system pressure ( flash point ) allows for a smaller cooling system ( lower drag ). 13) without ' blower-assisted' cooling, on 'track days', the Porsche could experience walk-home engine failure. |
You seemed to have missed the critical point. The Porsche is an example of an ICE engine car that has extremely low cooling drag.
That it is a high-power, high top speed car makes it even more interesting. |

Also, compared to Taycan, and Model S, the Carrera is: * small * light * low-powered * small frontal area If you remove the special conditions of the Carrera's cooling system, your whole argument falls apart. It becomes nothing as special. Pity that your remarks imply lack of reading comprehension. |
Such a shame when a theory - ie ICE cars all have lots of cooling drag - is replaced with facts, isn't it?
Fact: ICE cars don't all have lots of cooling drag. In fact, a select few have basically none. |

What's hoped to be passed off as 'fact', is nothing more than a highly contextual, tip-of-the-iceberg, compartmentalized, data point, which disregards the totality of the topic. We can cite hundreds of ICE 'cars' with zero cooling drag. That's not the issue. |

confusion
As always, the antidote for what appears to you as confusion on the part of others will vanish after you've completed the degree in mechanical engineering.
Reality is what exists outside the mind of the uninformed. |
