Lowering Springs?
 

If I were to lower my car 1.5 to 2 inches, what impact would it have on FE?

What does everybody think?

I do not like the look of it stock, so I am thinking of dropping it a little.

Short answer is it's supposed to help but it will probably be so little you can't detect it. That was my experience. I still like the mod though.

It depends on how low your vehicle already is.
For example, if you've got a truck a foot off the ground, two inches probably isn't going to do much at all.

I did that on my civic for a few years then changed it back because the ride was really rough and I found that my suspension bushings were all wearing out much faster, I ended up changing it back to stock and I haven't had to replace any suspension parts in the last 3 years.

I believe that when lowering your car, you have to invest in a good set of shocks and springs. Changing only the oem springs will not provide an optimal compromise between comfort and handling. I will most likely reduce the tire pressure from 40 psi to 35 psi once the suspension upgrade will be done.

I intend to keep my car for another 5+ years, so the investment is justified in my case.

but yes I had put H&R cup kit on my old svt focus, that thing sat LOW

No, shooda quoted 007. Talking about buying all this stuff without ever trying what I've done strikes me as, well, not as informed as should be for dispensing such advice.

How about sharing what you have done instead of bashing me ? I merely said that in my opinion, lowering your car is something to be done properly and that it requires an investment. OE shock absorbers were not designed to withstand stiffer springs and they will fail prematurely or in the least not be as efficient as they should be.

My point is, if your shocks and struts are rather old and that they will need replacement eventually, perhaps investing in a superior set along with the lowering springs could prove to be beneficial in terms of comfort, handling and perhaps provide a small aero benefit.

As I have said earlier, I intend to keep my car for a long time, and such investment is justified in my case. I trust that people are mature enough to make their own judgment and take my comments with a grain of salt.
