LRR Tires

No, my new tires are NOT LRR, but they are compared to my previous tires.

Previous set was Pirelli ST90's and they did not coast well at all, they were radials.

New set is Avon AM26 Roadriders and are bias ply, and they coast MUCH better.
They have a lot stiffer feel, which I like, AND are very grippy.

Avon offers this tire in a very wide variety of sizes so if you are looking for a good tire, this one has my recommendation.

Hm... unfortunately I can't see a 160/60 for Teresa.

What tire pressure do you use? Is it the same as with the Pirelli? Do you know anyone who have been using this AM26 for a longer period? How does it perform in rain? In cold (like 0C=32F)? How long does it last?

The tires I tried last time and am still using are the Heidenau K73. They grip well, feel better in rain and cold than the previous Metzeler Z6 pair. And they can't take as high pressure as the Z6 could easily tolerate and coast somewhat worse (Z6 could take 2.9/2.9 bar [sidewall max] while I use the K73 at 2.5/2.7). The other downside is the rear's longevity: Teresa ate one over 10250km, while I could use a Z6 rear for 28000. I'm testing the next one, autumn+winter comes with less 2-up rides and colder temps, it may last longer. And the front is expected to last for at least two rears...

With the Z6 the tires wore together.

(On a sidenote: K73 isn't the correct size either, now the front is 120/70-17 instead of 110/70-17)

Same tire pressures, have heard (this is my first experience with Avon) that the tire is awesome in the rain, warms up quick, and is long lasting. Tire max on sidewall is 42 psi.
I am currently running 30f 34r but could run them higher, but I like how they feel at this pressure (great feedback and awesome grip). The Pirelli's never had good grip and always felt vague. I have not got a tank run out yet to see how much better, if any, the mpg will be.

Had the bike dyno jetted yesterday, as I just got it close and rode it for 8 years!
Ended up coming down 2 on the main so this will influence the results.

Always considered my bike the 'fun' in life, so it's very hard for me to ride like I drive, in terms of acceleration and braking, I do mind the speed limits though. It is very difficult to pull the clutch in and coast, but I'm working on it....

Well, I'm a pervert.
Hypermiling is fun for me :D

Had to drain the tank to replace the petcock seal and I don't know how much was left in the tank, not much, but I drained 6500 cc or, 1.717 gallons.

So I had used 1.483 gallons to cover 95 miles which nets 64 mpg.
Previous best for similar riding was 54 mpg.

Will know for sure when I fill it back up.

Filled up today and had 107 miles on the clock and it took 1.662 gallons, 64.38 mpg.

The changes I have made have had a great impact on economy.
My normal riding consistently netted 52 mpg or so and the changes were replacing the bigger cam with the stockers, (which netted a better running bike, with even more power), dyno jetted and some new tires.

I do not try to hypermile on it. But I might now that 70 mpg is close......

New personal best of 65.5 but I changed the air filter and rejetted (leaner with a more restrictive filter) to the same AFR and it netted 1 more mpg. So it looks like the tires are responsible for most of my gains lately.

Still need to lean out the idle circuit some. It still shows 7.5% at idle and needs to be around 5%. That might actually show another gain.
