MAF and IAT signal mods...

Has anyone tried to tweak Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) signal and Intake Air Temperature (IAT) signals?

Yeah I did once, a long time ago. Burned all the exhaust valves because it was running lean all the time.
That was about 22 years ago.
My later experiments 2013-2014 with lean burn using a 4bbl carburetor were successful. The primary venturis were set up for lean burn, the secondary venturis were fuel dumps and I had wide band air fuel gauge hooked in. Any time I got on the throttle I had a rich air fuel ratio. When I disassembled that engine it had no trace of burned valves.

Did you see any fuel economy improvement by doing that? Probably not.... if understood your comments correctly....

Just trying to understand how the whole engine systems works with fuel injectors and sensors.... what sensors and where they impact and how they feed into a ECU in a closed loop system... And naturally think if there are some "easy" way to improve fuel economy by tweaking some sensors when much less power is needed (like highway driving) yet possible to adjust things back to normal when/if needed....

Went from 9mpg to 12mpg in town and was showing 16 to 18mpg on the highway. I never did a before test on the highway.

The somewhat easy way is to figure out what signal is provided to the ECU for what purpose and fiddle with that set of parameters. Start with the O2 sensor then progress to others that support odd processes like rpm

On the O2.. monitor their values, then add some sort of burnable to richen flow, watch the change in the data and modify to the opposite, but stay within parameters.

Btw stuff in parallel is like 1/2 the lowest resistance.
