Hi, I'm new in the hood. I need help on increasing my millage on my 2000 F150 4.6 V8 to save some money on gas.

I also have a 1995 Nissan pick up truck with a 2.4 engine and thinking about making a hybrid. I'm going to need some help so if anyone can that would be great!

Thanks to every one.

Welcome to EM, Manny. You'll see your most effective, immediate, and free mpg increases from simply slowing down. My SE-R and xB get 26 and 32 mpg going 70 mph, respectively. Slowing down to 55, they get 38 and 40 mpg, respectively. That's about a 30% improvement in fuel economy just from slowing down.

Use your momentum, so once you get your beasts rolling, you keep them rolling as long as possible. Let up on the gas half a mile before stoplights and stop signs. Most people still have their foot on the gas half a block before stops that they know are there.

Experiment with tire inflation. Tests show that maximum sidewall pressure gives good mpg returns.

Welcome to ecomodder! A truck bed cover and increasing tire pressure to max sidewall would help.
