Mercedes-Benz Urban eTruck
Mercedes-Benz beats Tesla's Master Plan II in the introduction the Urban eTruck, an all-EV semi truck. They used Urban in the name because it is not a long haul semi truck. It is an EV chassis used for regular route city jobs; delivery trucks and garbage trucks. MB took their HD three-axle diesel truck, removed the powertrain and installed electric motors at each hub. The 212 Kw battery is enough for a 124 mile range or about a couple of days of around-town deliveries. DC fast charging, SAE-J1772 Type 2 connector will recharge it in 2-3 hours. Tesla has an EV truck project as well but MB concept came out first in the electrification beyond consumer vehicles and into the commercial market vehicles.

I was looking at ZF's website for their smaller electric axles, but they have this for city buses:

They probably supply to Mercedes-Benz. The axle I was looking at is for their urban vehicle, the electric twist beam: http://www.zf.com/global/media/produ...pf_gallery.png http://www.zf.com/corporate/en_de/products/product_range/cars/cars_electric_twistbeam.shtml |

What's everybody got against round headlights? They would work well with the M-B logo.
Interesting transition from the cab to the box van. They sorta give up at the upper corners. (wow, the word 'sorta' passes my spellcheck!) I liked that they put the Mercedes 190 pedal car at the end. |
