Metro 3.52 Transmission Swap Straight Forward?

90% of my driving is interstate.... I notice how much my car is revving (like 4000 rpm at 77 mph)... even though I don't go over 70 much at all...
I really want to swap transmissions even though mine is in great shape. So would the 3.52 ratio tranny from a swift be a good swap from my 4.39... woud it be an easy, straight forward swap or would there be problems anywhere? There are some from 200-375 bucks within 350 miles of me.
I searched but I couldn't find the exact answer so anyone that has done this or knows about it let me know please.... Ive done tranny swaps but not on any metros or many fwd for that matter.
And what estimated gains might I be looking at? Any info is appreciated!
ALSO, I PLAN ON SWAPPING CAMS WITHIN THIS YEAR, TOO. Either xfi or new grind i'll prolly order a new one. WOULD IT BE BETTER TO DO THE CAM OR TRANS FIRST?

EDIT: Or would another tranny be better? Like the 3.79? I know I would have to dog the 3.52 but would the mileage be better with one or the other? I REALLY WANT THE 3.52.

I've done it -- my first and only transmission re/re on a fwd car -- and there were no real problems. You may also need a different shifter brace though.

Have you done the math? How long would it take for a ~5% efficiency gain to pay itself off? (Assuming financial savings is your motivation.)

I suppose it makes slightly more sense to do the cam first, since you'll then have more torque to handle the taller gearing. But I don't think it really matters - I did it "backward" though. International heart transplant: the Blackfly gets an XFi cam - MetroMPG.com

The lower the RPM, the better your cruising MPG. 3.52
