Metro hatchback vs sedan
on the metro, the sedan has a better CD than the hatchback, for my mostly 55 mph driving wouldnt the sedan be better than the hatchback.

obviously, if indeed it is lower coefficient of drag and same area.
|
Isn't the sedan only available with the four cylinder 1.3L? If so this would probably more than offset any aero gains.

I put a 3-banger in my sedan. It is getting a consistent 53 mpg, while waiting for the xfi cam from 3tech.

Nice :)

I knew eventually someone would slap a 3 banger into a sedan :)
Nice job. |
After buying my Mazda last fall, I thought I had gotten the Metro bug out of my system, but I often find myself searching Craigslist for a Metro. I'm trying to find the perfect Metro, and I keep running across 3rd gen Metro manual sedans.
I'm hoping to find an I4 Metro with a bad engine, which I will replace with an I3. I will keep the I4 transmission with the higher final drive. If we compare an I3 sedan to an I3 hatchback, is the sedan (lower Cd) more efficient despite the slightly higher weight? |
At highway speeds, yes, it should be more efficient due to reduced aero drag.
|
What is the Cd for the sedan vs hatch?
