Motorcycle mirrors on a silverado

Some pics showing one of the new mirrors mounted on my 1990 1/2 ton Silverado stepside. The mirrors were for a Yamaha FZR. I filled the space left by the original mirror with a small piece of 1/4 in plywood; that I cut and shaped to size. I attached it with silicone caulk, painted it black and coated that with clear enamel. I then drilled some pilot holes and used self drilling screws to attach it through the wood and door panel. I will be doing the driver side tonight.

Nice, I may steal that idea.
How much the mirror cost you and where did you get it?

That's a huge improvement in frontal area. Do you notice any difference in the view?

This looks like a good compromise between no mirrors, giving small town cops a reason to pull you over and having external mirrors.
You and I have the same mirrors. So I like this.
Those new mirrors are almost 1/4 the size and with a fisheye sticky you could see more than with a big mirror and no fisheye sticky.

My Google-Fu yielded two motorcycle junkyards within 30 minutes of me.
May have to check them out and see when they have and if prices are reasonable.

There is a difference, just because of the size. They do what they're designed for though.

I agree with Frank, it seems like a tiny improvement will be seen and that it will take away from the utility of a utility vehicle, whenever I drive a pickup truck I am really glad that the mirrors are big because I use trucks for hauling stuff and I like to be able to keep an eye on my load and to have a clear view when I'm backing up.
Have you done anything to clean up the air flow on the underside of the truck?
