Renault Optifuel lab II aerodynamic truck concept

Renault have released their second fuel efficiency truck concept.

They have dropped the fuel consumption from 32,7 liters to 25,4l/100km or 9.2 MPG us with 33 tonn total weigth. Thats 22% improvement. Thats also 0,76l/tonne fuel consumption. Max weigth would have been 40 tonn and that would have made l/tonn fuel consumption better.

PS: I would not call this aerodynamic either as there is still so much more room for improvement or even good fuel consumption figures as there are things also mechanically that could be done.

What's with all the trucks lately? Maybe it's the thought that occurred to me the other day: Hyperloop freight trains.

Renault's 1987 V.I.R.A.G.E. achieved Cd 0.29 with the extended boat tail.

Also in 1987 they had their own 'BIONIC/Boxfish' Vesta II,Cd 0.187 and 100+ mpg.

The 1985 Renault ORPHEE concept achieved Cd 0.129 and they predicted that they'd be at Cd 0.10 within a decade.
I feel like they are quite capable of low drag.

Looks like it relies too much on a matching trailer while out in the real world, one tractor has to hook up to many different trailers.

Fairly smooth looking rig for a cab over. I like the rake of the front and whats up with the intake above front window? Pressurize the gap behind cap or feed air to reefer unit?
I think this cab would work well with most of the standard trailers, especially with side skirts and trailer-tails, which are becoming almost normal now
