Might have found my new hobby :-)
Hi fellow ecomodders.
I'm Paul, originally from Ireland but recently moved to Michigan with my wife and daughter.
My daily commute is 46.3 miles one way, mostly on state highway 52.
I had the loan of a Lincoln Navigator and was getting 14 mph! so when I went
looking for a car for myself, gas economy was the first thing on my wish list.
Bought a '06 Scion Xa with 66k.
I got a auto so my wife could drive it if need (I've also got lazy in my old age!)
I had a '99 1.3 JDM Toyota yaris back in Ireland (We drive on the same side of the road as Japan) so was familiar with the engine etc.
I've always worked on my own cars and like to "tinker" when I get them. So I started to look into what I could do with the xA :-)
Most people seem to be into heavily modding for performance and looks but going back to why I bought the car in the first place I was wondering if I could mod for better gas mileage? So that is how I found this site :-)
Now that I have, I think that I've been bitten by the bug!
My first fill showed 36 mph without any modification of my driving style which was "Get to work on time but not by breaking speed limits by too much!" sort of style.
I've now started to modify my driving and instead of passing that slower vehicle in front I'm now happy to leave for work a little earlier and just follow it :-)
I'm eager to see by how much my mpg will change?
I'm also getting a Ultra-scan from my wife for my birthday :-)
so the hobby is well and truly starting to take hold of me .....
Paul
