Mirror Delete
Well, I got my mirror delete part in. It's factory so it looks clean and.. normal
Before http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y74...4/IMG_050h.jpg After http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y74...hoto0266-1.jpg I think those square lights make my car look bad ass. Anyways, my fuel milage has dropped to normal.. about 23-24 mpg. Which is pretty good for city driving. I think I made a calculation error in the first entry where I forgot how much fuel I put in or something... anyways. I'm trying to locate a drivers side block off plate, but that would have to come from europe or asia with RHD W123's. my car runs, by design, at 80C. I was thinking of taping over all of those open areas on the front and put a lower grill block in, made from cardboard and see how that works. |
Nice mod! What does the factory replacement piece look like? Just a black plastic cover or something such?
Keep up the good work, :) |
pfft.. plastic.. It's a Mercedes sir ;). It's a piece of anodized aluminum. I'll take a pic

bling... the finish doesn't match the rest of the anodized aluminum on my car since the previous owners never took care of the metal. so now I have to buy some nasty chemicals and strip the finish off so its just polished aluminum and keep on top of shining it so it doesn't look like crap. I think this week I'll make a grill block out of cardboard and tape some things on the front. |
Oh!! An 80's D...I love those cars. Keep up the good work!

I had one of those thoughts today. I noticed how a good amount of members here have modified their wheels to accept smooth hubcaps. I don't have steelies but do have the light weight( well lighter than the steel but heaver than the aluminum wheel) currently.
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y74.../Photo0141.jpg It has a lip about 1.5" or more away from the center flat section. I was thinking about getting a spare set of center caps and modifying them to take a spacer and mounting some pizza pans to fit. That is if I can find 15" diameter pans to go on them. Mounting I was thinking about using some form of heavy duty glue to hold the spacer( maybe pvc pipe) to the center cap and using two threaded rods bolted to the center cap and then bolted to the disc. That way I can remove it if I need to remove the wheel/tire. I don't know if that will work. I need to look into it. I could also downgrade to the 14" steel wheels that are 6" wide and run pizza pans easily. but I like how the 15"s give me a better selection of tires and better road handling. I can get steelies at the drop of a hat. |
Snazzy plate there don
