Modding an Accord hybrid

I drove my son-in-law's Accord hybrid and liked it a lot. I had to drive from the SF Bay area to Monterey and back, so since I could track MPG in real-time, I used hypermiling techniques.

I found that at about 60, if I was very easy on the pedal, I could get it to shift into 3 cyl mode, but it dropped out on the slightest hill. Still, in that mode, according to the screen, I was able to consistantly get 40+ MPG!

So the question - somewhere, probably in the computer, there is a switch that cuts 6 cyls to 3, so if I could bring out a wire loop with a switch in parallel, I could control it!

Anybody thought about this, or know how to do it, or have done it?

The computer controlling the variable cylinder function is much too complicated to go along with something like that. It wouldn't be hard to find the wire and muck with it, but the car it's likely to put up with it :)

A better tack to take would be to do some aeromods and LRR tires in order to reduce load on the car so you can be in 3cylinder mode more often :)
