A Montana outfit thinks they have the secret to inducing lean burn on <2005 cars.

What We Do

This outfit thinks they know how to induce 18:1 lean burn with emissions improvements (including reduced NOx somehow) using an aerodynamic device in the throttle body.

The Gadgetman Groove by another name.

Idiots. Almost all intake manifolds for EFI are "dry"; fuel is injected adjacent to the intake valve so their "turbulence" does little or nothing. And for the throttle-bodies I fail to see how this would help either.

I don't think so.

ellenor2000 11-07-2017 04:58 PM

Yes, idiots absolutely. It's a pretty sh!t little piece of kit. It won't do what's claimed. Surely, if the concept works, a rifled wall behind the TB would be even better. But it's not likely to work.

Unicorn corral here we come.

ellenor2000 11-07-2017 09:17 PM

Yeah, it's pretty much bull****.

gtOmologato 11-07-2017 09:56 PM

Are you sure this should be in the unicorn corral? I am pretty sure he wouldn't make up the part about the "complete elimination of noxious gas emissions".

And everyone knows that Q-jet carbs can't be turned upside-down like Holley's and Edelbrock's :D

It may eventually induce a lower fuel amount to be injected, but since that device is a restriction to the airflow I wouldn't call it lean-burn.

Fairly sure it's a DE-restriction, at least from what I've seen...

I haven't seen much about it, but anyway, as long as such de-restriction could cool down the intake stream it might then lead to a leaner burn without an increase to NOx emissions. But it would still be impossible to eliminate NOx at all.

Update: the idiot has started a multi level marketing scheme.

ASV 01-02-2019 12:07 AM

it works but only if you have a fuel line magnet on your hho outlet
;)

So if I get this, on top of my Singh Grooves, my engine will emit unicorn farts and cure cancer?

Where do I sign up?

Vman455 01-03-2019 05:01 PM

Wow, their homepage now claims the product will, quote, "eliminate emissions."

They also write, "Over half of the gas you put in your car is wasted in the form of fumes and in the catalytic converter," so, you know--basic knowledge of internal combustion engine efficiency: none.

Edit: The website says he's in the Chicago suburbs now. Maybe I should pay him a visit!
