more efficient fuel pump

I've seen some fuel pumps marketEd as "performance" so I'm wondering if there's any fuel pump out there that's more economical than stock. Mine is getting weak, so it needs replacing anyway. Any recommendations on what to look for in an efficient fuel pump?

"Performance" fuel pumps generally only offer higher flow-rates and pressures than "normal" ones. Other than that, no advantage.

I've never seen a fuel pump marketed specifically for efficiency, although there are types of pumps which are more efficient than the rotor-vane pumps generally used in the automotive industry.

i don't think you're going to see any difference from the engine, but a lot of vehicles are running fuel pump speed control modules now, usually on return-less systems. i think they're doing it because it may extend the life of the fuel pump. although i think it would reduce the load on the alternator. now if you can figure out how to retro fit one on your car, i don't think it would ever pay off financially.
