Mother Earth News Fair - WA - June 4, 5, 2011
 

I just got invited out to be a speaker at the 2011 Mother Earth News Fair, to be held in Puyallup, Washington.

I was at the very first one in September that they had in Pennsylvania. It was really a great event.

I was invited there to give a presentation on how I built my electric car. There was also a wood-burning car there, and the builder of the "MAXX" veggie-turbo-diesel roadster, although his car wasn't there, due to unfortunate circumstances.

I imagine that the upcoming fair in Washington will have several interesting transportation projects there. Oh, and I will be presenting as well!

Hell yeah, that's like 2 hours from me. Lots of Geo Metro owners here in the PacNW.

There are plenty of EVers in that neck of the woods. MPaulHolmes said he lives like 25 minutes from that festival grounds!

I'll have to look up the local EAA chapter out there as well.

I'm about 5 hours away and I am really interested in going. We should have a get together both nights maybe get some wings and beer. Would be a great bonding experience for all of us to finally meet in person.

Out of curiosity, what all goes on at this fair? Link to a website with more details?

The fair is booths, lectures, and presentations, book sales, animal husbandry, renewable energy and more.

The first one, out in Pennsylvania really was a blast - I'm glad I was there.

Also, the organizer of the event asked me to assist in arranging for a "Home-built Car Show."

We are looking for home-built electrics and other heavily modified/eco-friendly vehicles with the home-brew twist. For example, at last year's event, there was a car there that ran on the gasification of wood pellets. There was also to be a built-from-scratch turbo-diesel veggie-oil burning roadster. Unfortunately, that guy got in a car accident on the way driving to the event! (From the other side of the country!) He will be at this coming Mother Earth Fair.

The fair organizers are also looking for presenters/presentations on clean transportation. For example, last year, I was at the event and presented on how I built my own electric car.
