Lyten battery company takes a bow

Also in the Jan. 2022 MOTOR TREND's 'Technologue, by Frank Markus, Silicon Valley's battery maker, Lyten emerged from the shadows in September.
This federally-funded company is working on a LytCell Lithium-sulfur battery, targeting 3X energy density improvement and pricing which would undercut combustion vehicles.
Their using a 3D graphene matrix to 'cage' the sulfur, to keep it from hitchhiking a ride on the Lithium.
1,400 charge cycles seen so far.
Thermal expansion is not an issue.
Fire risk practically nil.
-20F-to- 140F operational environment
Cheap materials
nontoxic
recyclable
All-American ( 2023 tariff, USMCA trade agreement )
It's a work in progress

This sounds similar spec wise to the aluminum ion batteries being hocked, let’s see how long it takes to exit the skunk works

Let's hope it pans out better than past Green Investments. To Wit:

"It's been exactly ten years since the Solyndra solar power company accepted a loan of half a billion taxpayer dollars that would never be repaid. Now one industry expert says he's not sure any lessons have been learned in the years since.

"On March 20, 2009, then-Secretary of Energy Steven Chu announced Solyndra would be the recipient of a $535 million loan from his department under the Obama administration's revamped loan guarantee program. Solyndra used the money, along with hundreds-of-millions more from private investors, to build a new facility where it would be mass-producing its easy-to-install cylindrical solar "panels." The whole thing lasted about two years...." Fox News report, 2019.

Lower cell voltage than standard liion cell types.

That means a chunk more BMS...

Claim is that the inert chemistry + Carbon Nano structures removes the need for a BMS similar to lead acid.

AKA Very high breakdown voltage / current

When these come to market in a million years we can see if any of the claims
