Ultragauge - Calibration and accuracy

Hello everyone

I'm writing from Europe (Portugal) and I drive a 2006 Honda Accord 2.2 i-CTDi (satan's fuel ). For those of you in USA it basicly looks like the Acura TSX of the same year (can't post pictures yet).

The car does have a simple trip computer with instant (not very accurate) and average consumption, trip time, range and average speed.

I always was curious about Scangauge but my previous cars didn't have OBDII port. Despite having trip computer now I'm considering buying an Ultragauge partly because I'd like to know what's going on with accuracy, namely temperatures (oil and cooling system), engine load, EGR flow and others.

My doubt is if it's easy to get Ultragauge working correctly. I suppose there has to be some kind of calibration so it returns consumption values close to reality. Do you confirm that info? Is it hard to set up? Does it need any more info/preparation done by the user? Will it return accurate info?

Thank you in advance for your replys.

You can read the Ultragauge manual online, I plugged mine in and was about 5-7% off until I calibrated it, which is super easy to do (The instructions are very intuitive). It takes a little time to get really comfortable with it, but once you are it's an amazing tool. Just make sure to look up how to program in DFCO (deceleration fuel cut-off) as well.

P.S. I get within +/- .5 MPG accuracy on 500-mile tanks.
