Can the display be wired to turn off?

I read that after the timeout has occurred only the back light will shut off. How much power does the unit draw? How long would it take to drain the car battery? When I disconnected power the other night I lost my tank information. Everything reset, except for the parameter settings. This makes sense. I would like to set it up so that I can leave the unit powered to keep it memory. But wire the display to turn on and off the the ignition power. Is there a power or better ground wire to the display that I could make and break with an external relay wired the ignition position of the key switch of the car?

Thanks.
