MPGuino???

i was looking into getting one of those devices but it seems like a pain in the ass to set up and calibrate. is there any other devices available i really like the ScangaugeII but i have OBDI. just looking for something a bit more simple to calibrate and more refined looking. thanks for the input.

It was a bigger PITA to develop and build and test the mpguino, I assure you.

Indeed, the MPGuino is the only thing out there. You could use nothing, but that's not going to help you much. There are also plenty of nice cases people have built.

As always, if you want to save gas you need to do a little work.

Thanks, truly, for all hard work so that I can easily connect a few wires (Which is till need to do)

it seems like the easiest way to make it easy to hook up and calibrate would be to buy a newer car that interfaces more directly, it's not a device design flaw but a vehicle design flaw and the device is built so it can be made to work around those quirks.

I was a little scared by the mpguino at first, then I built one and was surprised how easy everything was. It was not hard to make at all, plus now they have prebuilt ones for sale, you just have to craft a case which can be made many ways. All you really need to do is locate a few wires in your car to tap into. It is very easy to use too, and the wiki page tells you everything you need to know. To calibrate it is just doing simple proportion math.

There are a lot of internet projects that are not all they are cracked up to be, but this is certainly not one of them. Dcb and others have done a remarkable job with this. I built 3 of them and have only had one problem (and that was probably my fault since I did not use the recommended display on that unit). After I fixed it, it was rock solid, and both others have been rock solid from day one.

I highly recommend it.

I Looked At The Wiki Page On The Calibration And Setup Of The Mpguino And It Doesn't Seem As Much Of A Pain As I Thought. It Actually Seems Pretty Simple. As Soon As I Get Some Extra Funds I'm Definately Going To Invest In Getting One.
