Mpgunino calibration help
 

Hi all

I am currently trying to run an MPGuino on my motorbike (a 125 v twin) but am struggling to get the calibration correct.

The issue is that its very difficult to fill the tank exactly the same on more than one occasion due to the tank design.

Is there any other way to calibrate the mpguino.

I am strugling to find flow rate information for the injectors in my bike.

I have narrowed down the vss pulses but the injector pulse value is baffling me.

It is just like a car, keep everything the same while calibrating (same pump, same side, etc) except that you can see the gas through the gascap and so you can find some mark (possibly the bottom of the lip of the tank) that you call the refill line and use that. I would fill it on the sidestand so there is some air left in the tank if using the lip.

There's plenty of bikes in the garage (including mine) that get consistent figures with no other instrumentation besides the gas pump and the odometer, so it is doable.

I may have had an easier time though, I put a 5 gallon tank on my bike so the margin of error at refill is small.

You could do something similar to reduce the margin of error, get a 5 gallon gas can, fill it precisely using the fuel pump to 5 gallons, then go fill up to the lip, and only refuel from the gas can during calibration until the gas can is completely empty (get it all out and in the bike) but don't reset the guino, then when the last tank is getting low, go refill like normal but add 5 gallons to your calculations for pump gallons.

Hmm Ok, I will guess I will have to get creative with my fill up techniques to create some repeatability.

i have found that even filling to the bottom of the filler tube in the tank can be tricky, i was using a frameing square to measure as back up. now this may not be a good thing to do but close to the top of the filler tube in my tank (suzuki DR200) is some type of square hole, at that spot it is eaiser to gauge plus i still measure. i do now measure after a minimium of 150miles that way a little off will not have as much affect. as filling up goes i use a 32 ounce measuring cup and a 3oz. turkey baster.
