MPGunio & l/100km?

Hi all,

Does the MPGunio have an option to display l/100km?

Thanks for your time!

I just found this thread today. Haven't even assembled my MPGuino yet, so I can't vouch for it working or not though.

Mmm that looks more like km/l rather than l/100km but thanks for the heads-up. I'll try that anyway. I guess I'll be able to update my mpguino in the future, or do I have to buy a new chip each time there's a new version?

You can program and re-program the chip as often as you want via USB.

sort of

Wouldn't you have to rewrite the entire program? MPG uses the fuel unit as the fixed point, whereas L/100km uses the distance as the fixed reference. So the maths is all different.

Its easy to convert between the two actually. Just divide a number, I think, something like 284 by mpg and you've got l/100km. Not difficult.

Just got back home and have double checked my figures. It's 282.48 for MPGuk and 235.21 for MPGus.

So, say I've got 5 MPGus and want to convert that to L/100km, I just divide 235.21 by 5 which I get 47 L/100km. If I've got 10 MPGus, using the same formula, I get 23.5 L/100km. So this should be do-able with a couple lines of code, depending on how efficient the program code is.
