Mustang Aerodynamics - 252 mph at Bonneville Salt Flats
 

I came across a FR500C Mustang developed by Hajek Motorsports for a Bonneville speed record. While this is certainly no fuel efficiency wonder it does have significant aerodynamic modifications for that high speed run.

Unfortunately, I haven't found any more info on the wind tunnel and aerodynamic work on the car. The website is more focused on the motor than the aero :rolleyes:

Looks like airdams, grill blocks, side skirts, smooth wheel covers, decklid extension, wiper and mirror deletes, and lowering as far as aero goes. Pretty standard. Wonder what the before/after cd was.

I would love to know the .cd for a stock Mustang and this salt flats racer too!

Looking more closely at the pictures of the new Mustang I saw what looks like flexible rubber side skirts that extend between the front and rear wheels and from the rocker panels to the ground. Those side skirts together with the low front air dam and overall car rake probably create a suction effect reducing lift without too much effect (?) on drag.

It's interesting to look at the '68 Mach One to the '08 Mustang and compare the differences.

Man, that looks evile-good. The side skirt detail is interesting. It makes me want to know if they did anything else like add a belly pan.
