My first electric vehicle
2 Attachment(s)
Its not much. Might need new batteries. I think it will be a cheap little electric vehicle project. Fix it up a little, up the volts, make it a little faster.
Saved it from the scrap yard, so it was really cheap. Since I got it from the scrap yard it doesn't have a charger, so for now I pull batteries and charge them with a regular 12v charger. http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...1&d=1409021326 http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...1&d=1409021326 This is like the ultra small scale test platform. I put no limit on this project, could up the voltage to 36 or 48 volts, change motor controller, swap the motor, relocate the motor, make more room for batteries. I don't think I will go as far as going beyond lead acid technology. |
Ha, we'll, it's something. I've been thinking seriously about an ev conversion here in New Mexico. What would you think about rounding up some interested people to put a car together? I should have enough funds for a project by December.

It wouldn't hurt to try. I was trying to build one back in 2010 but it would not have been feasible. I had an extended cab S-10 with a bad engine and I was building a parts list.
I sold the S-10 when I realized I would be operating on the edge of its range and the constant threat of no notice trips to afghanistand for up to 8 months would not have done its battery pack any favors. That coupled with working 50hr+ weeks when home I never would have had time to complete it anyways. The situation has changed and I am considering build one again. But not until after I move back to texas. |
