MY first post here, hello (just bought a 98' Honda Civic HX)
 

Hi all this is my first time here, I just bought a 98' Honda HX, its in excellent shape, new plugs, wires, oil change, belt, water pump , 02 sensor cat and header, I've so far deleted my antenna and am installing one on the inside of my windshield, I bought a block off plate to cover the hole, I also put 46 psi in my tires (44 psi max) recommend, I am looking to Do maybe an intake upgrade of some type, not sure if I should go short ram intake or just modify my stock box for a warm air intake, any other simple suggestions would be appreciated, thanks

Like Mcrews said, get some good instrumentation to set a baseline with. Instead of blindly modding, I'd suggest modding and ABA testing. It gives us more data on what works and what doesn't.

You'll want an MPGuino rather than a commercial OBD-II gauge. Only the MPGuino can accurately measure your fuel consumption when in lean burn mode.

Gauge should be your first step!

So a mpguino over the scangauge 2? I want mpg data and lean burn data, any opinions on warm air vs short ram intake? I wanna do it this weekend, I've only had the car 4 days so I've barely bought anything for it yet.....also I might try and do a upper grill block, ill try and post pics in a few days

I'm going to add "HX" to your thread title to get the attention of the other HX owners.

If you want an accurate MPG gauge, you need MPGuino. The ScanGauge or Ultragauge do not calculate MPG properly when in lean burn mode because MPG is calculated from air consumption based on a ~14.7:1 ratio.

The other gauges & features of the SG/UG etc. are interesting though.

I run a MpGuino for keeping track of mileage and an UltraGauge for all other gauges. Works for me.
