Craigslist: 1984 Ford Escort (Diesel, Manual)

84 ford escort wagon diesel

Not my ad but an interesting car for MPG purposes. $2,200, or $2,400 with a parts car.

"I have a 1984 ford escort station wagon with a 2.0 liter DIESEL engine! it has 165,000 miles and will continue to go up as it is a daily driver. Has brand new brake calipers. Tires are brand new . The interior is in a 7 out of 10. The radio works.the air condition does not blow cold. It is a 5 speed Manuel. This car gets about 55 mpg. I just have to many vehicles and needing money for my other projects. I also have a parts car to go along with it for 2400. The parts car does not run because the motor is apart and sitting in the back of the car. But the interior is in excellent shape. "

Well the the car is probably reasonably light but not very aerodynamic. Id say its definitely possible, but probably not without some serious hypermiling techniques.

Sorry for off topic, but the phrase is actually "blowing smoke up your ass". Not being a grammar Nazi or anything but until recently I didn't know myself where that lil gem had come from, having heard it countless times in the car business. Apparently, back in the olden days, if you had drown, they figured out that once they got you back on the ship then they could get you breathing again by inserting a bellows full of nicotine smoke into your nether regions. Which actually makes sense. Hence, the term was born. But I really don't want to know the series of events that led to that discovery.

As for the wagon - look at my name. Of course I love it! I will find one, one day...

I believe that "Did you pull that our of your ___?" was originally "Did you pull that out of your hat?"

I certainly prefer the hat version...

Had this '87 diesel that I sold for $2,000 back in '91. That's a $500 car tops.
