Near perfect 1997 Geo Metro for sale
Hi everyone,
I'm new here, so I hope it's okay to place an add. I came across a nearly mint condition 1997 Geo Metro at the wrecking yard last year. It would be the perfect platform for an Ecomodding project. I have too many projects and would like to sell it to someone who appreciates these cars. white, 1.0 3cyl Base model, no A/C or Radio. Salvage due to recovery from wrecking yard. No fluid leaks. 9/10 body with original paint, not a spot of rust, never in an accident. 9/10 interior nearly perfect original interior 5 speed manual transmission Perfect spare, jack, tools and owners manual. 198,000miles, gets 50 mpg regularly on my commute from Santa Barbara to Santa Cruz at 70 MPH Things I've replaced <5000 miles ago New CV shafts New Interstate battery New timing belt and waterpump New 1.3 flywheel and heavy duty clutch 4 new Michelin Defender 80,000mi ecoX tires Scan gauge II installed Mobil 1 0-20 Redline synthetic manual transmission oil. Asking 2900.00, about what I have in it. |
thread is useless without pics.

I'll take care of that. 1997geometro, you should be able to post pictures now.
Edit: It seems that I do not have that authority. I'll check with Daox or Metro and see if they can change it for you. |
You can post pictures now 1997geometro.
How are the front control arm mounts (typical rust point)? |
Thank you for your interest and helping me to post pictures to the thread. Today I'll try to get some pictures up. When I tried yesterday an error message said: " file size exceeds max allowable" I'll need to find a way to reduce the file size or post to a picture hosting site. About the undercarriage its is a California car, so it's never seen salt, there is no corrosion, even the plating on the fasteners looks new.

Awesome wrecking yard find! Kinda makes you wonder how something like this ended up there in the first place. Very nice car, GLWS.
|
Probably due to the high mileage, estate sale or charity donation. I really didn't need another car, but this one was just too nice to pass up...
|
Wow, that thing is in superb condition, I honestly thought you were exaggerating a little bit. Definitely worth the asking price!
|
that thing is a time capsule.
|
I never saw a newer metro get 50 mpg @ 70 mph. Mine wouldn't it got about 42 mpg @ 70 mph. That is awesome gas mileage.
|
I read your post, and I did some calculations on the last trip. The speed limit is 65 for 3/4 of distance and 70 for 1/4. I try to go as fast as possible with the scanguage reading as close to 50 mpg as possible. When the mpg drops, I slow down, when it rises above 50 I increase speed accordingly. The 252 miles took slightly under 4 hours: 63 mph average. This week I'll be making the trip again I'll take note of wind, time and speed. I also drive my 2000 civic hatchback on this run regularly over years I've reliably recorded between 38 and 42 mpg at similar speeds with same driving techniques.
