Need advice on heated gloves and such

Yes, this is way off topic, but with so many here from Canada, I thought I'd ask.

I'm looking for some battery powered gloves that actually work, but are cheap ( $ 150 max )

And what about heated socks and vests ? Any good recommendations ?

I am asking for someone in Winnipeg, where it gets a bit colder than here in Texas ( Friday the high is going to be sunny and 82* :D )

And to keep this thread ON topic, I ran across this article on a car right in Winnipeg

I think it deserves its own thread !

I have just ordered a neck to toe 12V system from Venture Heat for use on my motorcycle. They also make battery powered clothing but I don't know anyone that has tried it. I like their system because they are one of the few that make a glove liner that I can use with any of my riding gloves.

I have used heated motorcycle gloves that wire directly to the battery. There were actual hot spots on the inside of my wrists that actually almost got burned if left on too long. A thin liner in between would have fixed that.

A roller switch would be much easier for on and off in a car as opposed to fumbling on a motorcycle.

Maybe $60.00 or so ???

Heated socks sound nice.

I have tried gloves with a D battery in them. Rather heavy; we don't want carpo tunnel
right???

The main reason I don't continue use of my gloves, is that they will tempt me to ride
when it is so cold that there will be ice hazards!

I've never even heard about electrically-heated motorcycling clothes, just about heated handles in some high-end motorcycles.

Grip heater's, installed under the grips of motorycyle are only about $30, Gerbing make all kind of heated gear. some relabeled BMW and HD. Making your own isn't hard, put enough heat into your core your hand and toes won't get cold. I can't find my thread on making my own but really easy, nead about 40 feet of 26 gauge wires.

Same basics as what I made, most important part is a good snug fit, need heat transfered thru conduction. Warm core warm fingers and toes, our body's shut down blood flow to fingers and toes to save core heat, core heat is good, blood flow continues.

Thanks guys. I keep coming across the gloves that you plug into a motorcycle, but she drives a car.
I'll keep looking .

These are nice and compact for a Woman. They also make the Epic which has more insulation.

I lived in [and near] Winnipeg for 22 years. Winnipegers are probably not the best people to ask about cold weather motorcycle riding advice because they are smart enough to stop riding around October.

I have since moved to the West Coast where year round riding happens and does tend to put a chill down your spine. So far I have just toughed it out with a thicker pair of gloves, but I am definitely interested to hear what gloves you buy and how they turn out!
