Need help with
 

Hey guys, I'm trying to get a Ford festiva econo box back on the road for fuel savings. The vehicle presented a crank but no start condition. It would run if directly fed gas through the carburetor, so I replaced the fuel pump. The vehicle started up and ran, but after a short distance, it shut off and would never restart again.

I decided to take the carb off and clean it. There was some built up varnish. I reassembled the vehicle but it still would not start. I decided to check for spark, which led me to replacing the distributor. The vehicle will now start up with no issue, but it will only idle for 5-10 seconds before the engine shuts off. If I press the gas pedal, the engine immediately shuts off. I'm feeding the engine with gas directly from a jug, bypassing the fuel tank and filter.

The requirements are fuel spark and air.

Does the distributor have a condenser or not? IIRC a bad condenser will allow idle but not revs.

Can you feed the jug into the filter?
