bigger pipes for truck?

Is there any benefit to upgrading the exhaust on a stock truck? I don't care about sound was just wondering if upgrading to say a larger diameter pipe would help flow at all and gas mileage?

Not in all cases,
Generally if you are after more power, then a bigger exhaust will help.
But not much work has really been done in just improving economy by modifying the exhaust, a high flow exhaust with mandrill bends, polished exhaust manifold and appropriately designed extractors can definately help, but you'll be hard pressed to find someone who can give you good advice on that as most performance boys talk in HP not MPG.
It's ironic that the performance area basically looks at getting more from an engine, which is the same as ecomodders, but with just a slight twist on the emphasis.

The bulk of hot-rod stuff and techniques revolves around more power, not necessarily more efficiency, and the bulk of the stuff surrounding getting more power involves running the engine at higher rpms. Higher than stock rpms do nothing but decrease fuel efficiency.

that's what I figured, and I don't need anymore power. Of another note; if anybody has netflix there is a good documentary called gashole which tells how we've been screwed by oil executives for years, then again you don't need a movie to tell you that.

Do a back pressure test.
I did a back pressure test and found that at max RPM and power my truck was only building like 2psi of back pressure.
Stock 6.2L exhaust back pressure test - Diesel Place : Chevrolet and GMC Diesel Truck Forums

That was 2007, around 2009 I did the forward of the rear axle dump exhaust. Just felt like doing it one day. I changed the intake manifold and did the exhaust that weekend and started getting my best mpg numbers. I think 90% of that improvement was intake.
