Needed: Mobile-savvy DC-area volunteers interested in car fuel efficiency

Hello. I work for a government agency and we are working on a mobile website intended for people who care a lot about fuel economy / getting the most MPG out of their cars. We are looking for a volunteer in the Greater DC area who is available on Feb. 15 for one hour. Participants will be paid $75.
Criteria:
  • Must own/lease a car or truck
  • Must own a smartphone and/or tablet (strive to get a good mix of devices)
  • Must use mobile device to access online content at least 5 times per week
  • Strong preference for testers who are currently looking to buy a new/used vehicle (for any who aren’t currently looking, must have purchased a vehicle at some point in their lives)
  • Strong preference for testers who have researched advanced vehicles or ways to improve their vehicle’s fuel efficiency within the last year (must at least show an interest in improving their fuel economy)
Interested parties can reach us via firstfridays (at) gsa (dot)gov. Thank you!

Smells like market research

This site's main goal is to encourage and teach folks how to make the most of what they have.

It sounds like you're looking for new car customers.

Sounds to me like they are trying to optimize a website that could possibly determine what kind of new vehicle would be best suited for an individual's commute... Not at all a bad idea for the general public, who wouldn't give a second thought to some of the craziness that goes on here!

F/E Calculations based on map routing for one's current vehicle vs an alternative new vehicle stating cost of ownership, insurance, fuel cost, etc... Would help put the potential savings of changing vehicles or "trading up" into perspective!

Keep in mind that this is all speculation as I have no affiliation with GSA other than there somewhat outrageous prices on items they sell to other government agencies!!!

While it may not affect the majority of us here, I would definitely look into participating in it if it is for the greater good... Not to mention being an outlier in whatever FE data they may be populating! Haha.

nbleak: funny outlier comment. Funny because it's true.

If I were in the area, was an American, and had a mobile or tablet device, I'd do it!

Alas, three strikes for me.
