Just got a stack of black coroplast sheets. made a passenger mirror delete, airdam/grille block. Seems it increase MPG around town, have no officially tested yet. Was excited and posted pics instead =)

Wow! Nice ride! Nice Coro job!

Have you been getting a solid MPG logged? If it's pretty stable, you should be able
to tell if the air-dam is helpin or hurtin pretty fast.
(I would do it before it gets to cold)..

Cool!

Hi MPGustafson - do you have some decent independent data showing the effectiveness of the "oil booster"?

MPGustafson 10-14-2008 10:54 AM

i just put it in my car 1 week ago. I drive 140 miles a day for work, usually different stops and directions, so my drive is not consistant per day. Problem is ( i may get bashed for this) i drive 73mph-80mph everywhere and my average MPG went up 3 mpg. Results have been better in larger vehicles. A friend of mine who drives an 07 Dodge ram 1500 was getting 18mpg and is now getting 23mpg which seems huge to me. I'd say its worth a shot, different engines respond different. I also have a big truck i could test on, a volvo 850 and a honda civic.

Will definately start an informative thread if results appear to be worth peoples money and time ;-)

I dont know if you are an outside sales rep, or just a reseller of their products...maybe you could find out more about this from someone at the PX3 Headquarters. I found something interesting when checking out your website.

On the about section of the company page ( PX3 Lubricants :: Synthetics on Steriods ) there is an image at the bottom called "px3-raceCars" (rehosted below)

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...3-raceCars.jpg

Call me paranoid, but those pictures didnt look quite right...the lighting on the company logo was different than on the car and when blown-up the resolution on the logo looked sharper than the rest of the photo. (example below)

So I checked some stuff out, the White GTO drag car is sponsored by Lucas Oil...and has been for some time. Also while the version on your site is slightly different...its a very similar picture...maybe taken by the same photographer at a different race? (see below)

The Black "NASCAR" is very similar to the 2004 Great Clips Dodge from the Busch serries, although yours also has some other sponsors on it...such as zippo...While the first picture is only a model of the 2004 car, the real picture is of a newer, slightly differnet body style car...but the same sponsorship. (see below)

I didnt see anything about the #14 car...that looks to be a sprint/outlaw car.

I did find some information about PX3 doing some contingency stuff with different racing serries...but no car sponsorship...not even any driver sponsorship.

Could you find out what exactly the deal is? Maybe the car owners/primary sponsors had you just photoshop your logo onto these cars cause the ones with your decals were not ready yet? I dunno

I hadnt heard of your company untill I read this post, and I am not trying to bad-mouth your product as I have never used them...I am just curious as to the story behind the pictures.

MPGustafson 10-16-2008 06:03 PM

Geoff,

i am not employed by PX3 in any way whatsoever.

i am laughing hystrically after seeing your photos, haha, you have a great point..

While watching power block TV, i saw the dyno with the Dodge Charger, then got interested, bought 1 bottle, put it in my vehicle, noticed an MPG increase, contacted PX3, bought 3 cases, sold some to some friends and have only heard positive things.

I cannot personally vouch for my friends increase in MPG when he tells me he drives "normal" and got a 5 MPG increase. Maybe he is contiously trying to drive slower and get better MPG? He says he's not, i have no way to verify his findings.

My friend put some in his '98 Camaro and said it felt a lot better on the butt dyno, yet he blew his transmission the next afternoon.

So in my expirience, i feel i have noticed a 3MPG increase driving 73mph-80mph different routes daily. Engine seems quieter and has less vibration as well. I just dont have the time to do a more thorough test at this point.

As for those pictures, hahhaha, i can only agree with you and laugh with you my friend.

You should call them directly at the source and ask them about the pictures.

I will pull apart my oil filter at next oil change and make sure engine internals are not collecting excessively. I will share findings with you. I have all my old oil filter pulled apart from the last 3 oil changes to compare to.

Have a nice day, any more questions for me, ask away.

MetroMPG 10-16-2008 09:36 PM

MPGustavson - I'm glad to read you have the sense to concede the MPG "results" aren't scientific.

MPGustafson 10-16-2008 10:24 PM

Honda Oil Filter $ 7 each (2), Mobil 1 0w-20 (5 quarts) $8 each, 1 Bottle Px3 $15. $69 for testing with 2 oil changes. They can cover my cost if they want me too do official test.

FunkSkunk 10-16-2008 11:31 PM

Wow Geoff! a Photoshop Watchdog of my own heart! nice work son

Hopefully that covered cost includes engine damage. What if it improves mileage by thinning/diluting your oil?

MPGustafson 10-17-2008 12:18 AM

I will let you know when i pull the oil filter apart and compare contents with the last 3 oil filters.

Sean T. 10-17-2008 12:45 AM

maybe you shouls conduct a study with your friends.... give some of them the product, and some of them regular oil in the product's bottle... that way the subconcious driving change wouldn't effect mileage.
