New from Biloxi MS
hows it going i'm new here, from Biloxi MS. I just bought a 92 Geo Metro Convertible, automatic transmission with only 80 thousand miles for 900 bucks! Just filled up my first tank last week. I filled it up at E, 7.61 to refill, 33 mpg. I know this car can get better gas mileage than this which is why I joined this forum. Just hit me up with suggestions or hello's In the mean time I'll be browsing the threads on here.

Welcome. My daughter's family lived in Biloxi at Keesler AFB when Katrina hit.
Automatics are tough to hypermile. Drive them slow, but keep them in torque converter lockup, and keep them rolling. I've managed >40 mpg on two vacation rental AT cars. I got >41 mpg for 1200 miles in New England in 2009 in a rental AT Yaris, and 43.7 mpg for 3600 miles last year in a rental Kia Rio. I've also averaged 40.1 mpg in my wife's Elantra over 4200 miles on long highway trips. I can usually work my wife's trip mpgs into the low-mid 30 mpg range on most of our local drives, by doing what I listed above. If you're technically savvy, get an mpguino to monitor your instantaneous mpg. You'll learn a lot about what works for your car with an mpguino installed. Good luck. |

I've got family there as well, also in Jackson and more areas that I can't remember. I envy that you get to hypermile among less aggressive drivers. Also, the weather, but I can't complain too much :)
