new to this but well on my way

hi all. so im new to ecomoding but am well on my way with my new build. im working on a 98 civic hx with a 5 speed. im building a engine for it and trans hoping to see 40 to 45 avg mpg. how it sits now is stock 300k+ with a few bolt on mods. what im building is a modified d16y5. i have a rebuilt d16y5 head. a d16y8 block that was bored .50 over. .50 over bore d16y8 pistions and d16z6 oem rods. a d16y5 crank and oem honda bearings. the head was shaved .006 to straten it. the head gasket is a bismoto single layer gasket thats .009 thick.all this is going to put me at 10.49 to 1 compression. i plan to use a oem 99-00 y8 exhaust manifold to help build mid range torque and a d16y5 intake manifold port matched with a integra gsr 65 mm throttle body . i want to use a s20 ex transmission with the 4.25 final drive that will put me at around 2600 rpm at 60mph and 2800 rpm at 70mph. this is ideal range for lean burn and the engine lode will be low also so the engine shuld be able to mantain lean burn with ease. im planing to up grade my injectors to the bosh ev1 style. the same 185 cc rating to help with air fuel mixing. im using a msd blaster ss coil on the car now for stronger spark.i am using a cat with the y8 manifold and a 2.25 mid pipe and oem 09 civic si muffler. tell me what you guys think shuld be fun lol.

Is that shorthand?

Welcome.
You seem to know your stuff well, but it is a bit hard to read like that.

The engine is important, but don't forget to check out the other modding possibilities in the 65+ efficiency mods link in the top of this page.
And remember that the biggest gains can be found in improving the operation of the part that is holding the steering wheel and pushing the pedals, hence there are no less than 100 hypermiling tips to be found with that link in the top.

Do post 5 times and show some pictures...!

Welcome to the site and good luck with the build.

You've got a lot going on with that car, I'm looking forward to it. Welcome!

I'm sorry about the shorthand. As far as the car I plan for it to be a fun daily driver that even if I drive it hard on occasion will still average 40 plus miles per gallon. I'm not too into the hypermiling but I do enjoy the thought of ecomodding. A little background on myself Im a Master ASE Tech with about 15 years of professional experience in the field and I've been doing this kind of work my entire life. I also hold certification in chassis fabrication and High Performance Engine building and I wanted to apply some of my knowledge into making an economical fun car.

Impressive. You know a lot more than me, but a question is if you set up a higher compression ratio closer to the cr direct injection engines have, won't you have a problem with detonation? The y5 had a knock sensor, so won't the ECU react to detonation by retarding timing and kinda undermining your purpose a little?

yes i would if i tryed to stay with 87 octane fuel but buy incressing to 89 or 93 i will be fine and with the engine having egr it will hepl to cool the cylinder temps. the y5 and y8 heads also have a larger valve quench area to help to fight detenation. also with the 10% ethenol in fuel to day it runs a bit cooler helping with that some. the injectors being a bosh ev1 style will help to better mix the air fuel. and if im wrong then i have a big paper wight lol!
