New Clean Coal Commercial

"Wind is a great resource for the future."

"Coal can provide that [night time demand] energy, no matter what Mother Nature is doing."

"The new Clean Coal plants that are being built today are... lightyears ahead of those built 30 years ago..."

Just saw this commercial tonight. Apparently, they can make coal a clean burning fuel, but they can't differentiate between measures of time and distance.

Hmm. Well, "ahead" could be descriptive of time or distance, so I think their hyperbolic advertising metaphor can be construed to make sense (as far as such things ever do.)

"...30 years ago..." suggests that they're referring to time, not distance.

They're telling the truth just enough to support their lie. They are correct in saying the current coal plants are cleaner than ones built 30 years ago. They lie in stating implicitly that windmills do not turn at night. Also that there is no mechanism to store the electricity generated during the day. There isn't right now, and people are looking.

Another lie is that the plants will only be used at night.

I'd rather see nuclear than coal. Nukes emit zero emissions when generating the electricity. We have to deal with the waste, which is a doozy.

Nuclear waste turns into lead as it breaks down, right? So why not invest it in lead-acid batteries for the EV's that are getting charged by the nuclear power?

(Asinine, I know...)
