New dude driving a old TD
 

Hi all,

Found the site through a link in someones sig from another forum. Looks like a good place to hang out.

I'm driving a 90 VW Jetta with a New 1.6 TD in it. I've swapped out the trans for taller gears and added some different springs to lower it a bit for improved aerodynamics. I've also added big bumpers, side skirts and fender flares for the same reason.

I drove 124 miles a day to get to work and home so having a efficient car is important to me on several levels. I need the mileage to not only save money but to lessen my impact on the environment as well.

Before the engine refresh I was getting a solid 40 mpg but I'm looking for 50.
Looking forward to reading what you are all doing to improve your mileage as well.
