New ecomodder from France

Hello to you,

I've discovered your website I don't know how but since Idiscovered it 2 months ago I've found a lot of interesting informations about how to modd a car in order to have a more efficient car.

For the moment without any modification except 0,20% of acetone in petrol, new spark plugs and wires, air filter and a "environmental driving" I'm at 37 MPG.

I dive a fiat punto 2, you can find pictures easily on google in order to know what it looks like :

I am planing some more modifications :

- Deleting the radio antenna (I listen radio with my iPhone linked to my car stereo).

- Smooth the wheel covers with a sheet of PVC.

- Seal all gaps with silicon rubber (around windows, bumpers...)

- Delete the spare wheel, trunk floor mat...

- Smooth the front of the car (there is some aero-sport style holes in the front bumper with no mechanical interest).

- Put a belly pan, at least at the front of the car right behind the motor.

What would be the other easy to make modification in order ?

Thanks a lot to all of you.

Welcome brother across the pond! These folks in this forum are very smart and helpful. I was looking into a diesel Punto while living in Melbourne Australia back in 2006. That is a really nice car. We are to get the Fiat 500 with a petrol engine either the end of this year or the beginning of next year. I would recommend adjusting the nut behind the steering wheel for the biggest fuel efficiency gains. I don't know how much the aero mods will help if you do a lot of city driving. Speeds were low when I was in the towns outside London England. Wild guess has you doing more low speed driving. I practice pulse and glide in our hilly part of my state. I have not mastered my recent car but noticed that my rolling resistance dropped when I switched the old all season tires over to new snow tires. I will not be putting those old tires back on. I might go with a grille block and a partial belly pan to cover my 45 mph and higher driving situations. Not a big issue at the moment.

Welcome,

Neal

Welcome to EM! The Punto is one of my favorite slot cars :

I am hoping that the Fiat (or Chrysler?!?!?!?) Punto Grande makes it to the USA.
