New EPA numbers
 

Just check out the new EPA ratings for my car. Old ones were 27/33 now they are 23/30. Which do you think is more accurate? The new ones certainly make my numbers look better but especially since i drive very little on the high way.

I looked at the numbers for my Metro. I have been using the old numbers to set a higher target. I do honestly think that the new numbers may be better for the Metro due to the RPMs envolved going over 50mph. Then again who knows? We are at a place now that a car getting 32mpg is advertised like it was a god-send when my wife gets close to that in her Buick.

Hey, I just looked at an old thread on the bottom of this screen that talked about the new numbers. It appears that the SOP on this site is to use the new numbers. I have changed my garage accordingly.

Yes, use the new numbers. Not everyone has the old ratings (if you have a newer car), so this kind of levels the playing field.

In just trying to get the highest MPGs regardless of what im supposed to be getting. I just thought it was wierd to go back and change something like that.

To me, neither set of numbers are accurate but aim for the best you can. Newer numbers are easier to beat but I try and go for my own goals (currently 40mpg/tank, next 45mpg, et al).

You should use the new EPA numbers. I am biased towards the old EPA, but I use the new EPA numbers for my fuel log signature because it allows my car to be compared to the newer model cars that people bring to the website.
