New to the forum
Just got a 2000 neon 5 speed real cheap. Runs well and without any codes. High mileage 183,000 ish but seems to have a lot of life left. Put a new batt, spark plugs and air filter in it. That is it so far.
I hope to get a baseline mpg once I get it plated then go from there. Thanks Chris |

Had the option of buy the car cheap and wanted a commuter car over my truck. I starred Google searching and found this forum and 2000neon thread on his results with his neon and it got me thinking about how I could get better mpg out of it. I am a computer geek and like efficiency so I thought why not. Not sure how far I will take it, but by the looks there are some pretty easy gains to be made with blocking the grill and installing an air dam.
I want to get some basic baselines on a few tanks, so I know what I am working with then go from there. |

welcome!
don't forget to air up the tires to 40+ psi!! |
Good job finding a manual. The automatics they put in those little cars did horrible things to gas mileage- and that's before you get into Chrysler transmissions from back then.
