New guy in an Isuzu

Just wanted to introduce myself, the names Jeremy. I'm somewhat of an Isuzu geek. I own several Troopers some running, some not. While it's probably not a popular choice for a vehicle to ecomod, I need the towing ability. I frequently tow a 7x14 enclosed dual axle trailer with some hefty weight in her. I drive around 80-90 miles daily on my commute to work, 5 days a week. I would love to get my hands on an early 80's Isuzu diesel (truck preferably) for the fuel savings. I just can't justify spending extra funds for another vehicle right now (cost of vehicle + cost of ownership). I do have plans for my '94 trooper and hope to get it somewhere between 25-30 mpg....pipe dream, maybe. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Here's a pic of a few of my Troopers, the red one is my '94 aka theBeater

First vehicle I ever owned was a 90 Isuzu Trooper II bought used in 96, still have it. It's my pride and joy, but is nowhere close to being fuel efficient, as she's built for off-roading. The first vehicle I drove was my parents 82 Honda Accord for about 6 months, now that car was amazing on fuel

Here's a pic of my '90

Welcome. I drive an Isuzu NPR - "Shaky" - at work. My wife used to have an Impulse and enjoyed it until it got creamed by a breakaway truck tire.

Those NPRs are tough. Shaky is 20 years old this year, looks like hot buttered hell but still runs. I guess the weakest part on him is the liftgate, an aftermarket item.

LOL, "shaky" I can only imagine why it has this nickname being a NPR. Impulses are hard to come by now a days. Would love to get my hands on a clean, low mileage, rust free RS model.....that's another pipe dream though lol.

Welcome Jeremy! Here is a post on adding the ecomodder fuel bar to your sig: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...ure-20941.html; adding the Fuelly bar should follow a similar path (I don't have a Fuelly acct so not sure what the steps are to get the bar image & URL from over there).

Hi I also have a 88 trooper 2, I put a 2.3 head on top of a 2.6 to raise compression and use 1/2e 85 and gas. I wan't able to get a tank thru it my MANUAL fuel pump went out (go figure) I was getting good power and saving about 29 cents a gallon on a fill up. I was on Isuzu planet , I bet you are too. Just wanted to say HI

Thanks "demidestructo". That 2.3 head sounds sweet, I remember looking into that and being interested. Like a lot of other ideas got shuffled out of my head LOL. Were you able to get the fuel pump fixed (i know that's not a fun job). I had a write up on "the planet" about my experience with it, although it was more about a 3" fuel tank lift to match the body lift.
