new guy - 39mpg, wow im happy
hey i just got a scangauge 1 a few weeks ago and finally tried it out on a full tank. this was about 90% highway and 10% city, got an average of 39mpg.
the only techniques i used were: -drafting behind trucks whenever possible -tires inflated to 40psi, door sticker says 32 -actually drove 100km/h, hitting 120 down hills -used my throttle position reading like nobody's business! i was used to about 23mpg city and 29mpg highway before getting the scangauge. overall, im VERY happy! car is an auto 96 escort LX with a few suspension/go fast mods, including lowering on eibach/tokico suspension and cold air intake. my mods will likely start to change for better mpg! pics of my car: http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...b/IMAG0104.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...ithPhil010.jpg comments welcome! |
Welcome to ecomodder! Off to a good start.

Thats a nice scort. I kinda wanted a GT, and then after that wanted my gf to get one...
|
thanks guys, haha yea I would love a GT. thats why my LX looks like one, i have a GT "oem bodykit", including bumper, sideskirts, and wheels that i painted.

I suspect your getting alot better mileage with the 1.9L vs the GT's mazda engine and gearing. We had an auto 91 escort GT and it wasn't that great on gas. It would chirp the tires downshifting to first at 50km/h though, very tough transmission!
Fun cars and welcome to the site, I am jealous that you've got 39mpg already! Ian |
96 scorts were the best year , hasODB2 and the lighter body style.. 39mpg is pretty darn good!

congrats, those are great results! Makes commuting and driving long distance a lot more fun . . . I did the tuner thing a bit too, with CAI, Magnaflow exhaust, lowering 1.75", and bigger rims. Now I'm back to the original wheels and having even more fun going for MPG!
