New guy here from MO.

Hey all, I drive a 2008 Mazda3 hatch 2.3L ATX. The car gets *OK* gas mileage I suppose, but I'm doing all I can to improve that since I have a LONG commute to work and gas just hit $3.69 in my area. Anyway, this is what I've done so far modwise:

- Switched to Amsoil 0W-20 synthetic oil.
- I keep the tires at the max pressure indicated on the sidewall.
- I grounded my throttle body.
- I installed a cold air intake.

As far as driving habits, I take it pretty easy, try to keep the car under 2500 rpms as much as possible. I use cruise control on the highway. I put the car in neutral when going down a grade and sometimes to coast to a stop. I keep the windows up & a/c off for the most part. I plan to buy a Scanguage to help track mileage more accurately.

Any suggestions on other things I can do to improve mileage would be great!

Hello and welcome to the forum! I am sure someone will get some info for that model or sit back and browse all the other topics here.

Welcome to the site! My family comes from Chillicothe, so not that close by, but out there none the less.

Do you know what kinda mileage you're getting now?

Hi Mazda3 - welcome.

Starting out, the best advice would be to record/track your fuel use, so you can watch your progress - that's your slo-mo feedback. The ScanGauge is an excellent idea - you won't go wrong there for the instant feedback you need to adjust your driving habits. (I should own stock in that company, I recommend it so often...)

You need to set up a garage entry for your car in order to use the fuel log here.

I take it you've seen the driving tips list?

Well, right now I'm getting around 24 mpg city and 34 mpg highway. I have a trip/fuel computer that's stock on my vehicle, but I'm not sure how accurate it is.

I set up my garage entry & read the driving tips. The tips were good, I learned a few things.
