Just here to see what others have done with older style proteges, and see what I can do, in terms of mods and better driving habits. Already get over 37 M.P.G. but would love to push it farther somehow.

Nice job! Those are pretty good numbers so far, but I'm sure you can break into the 40s.

Welcome to EcoModder. Another guy here just joined with a Protege

right after I made this initial post, I filled up the tank for the first time since having my a/c compressor decommissioned (as its pulley was completely defunct), and replacing the serpentine belt with a smaller one that just turns the alternator. My 191 miles to 4.2 gallons means that I got 45 MPG??? Seems too good to be true... Did I just misread my odometer, or would the belt switch make that much of a difference? I guess I'll find out after my next fill up....

Even with the compressor not running, it still sucks power. I can believe it.
